who

My name is Flavia, I live in Turin, and I am an architect. However, many years ago, I decided to change my life and dedicate myself to this project, becoming a craftswoman.

At the beginning, I juggled both jobs simultaneously, but after almost 8 years, I stopped being afraid, left my 'fixed' job, and fully embraced Arkyfly. I opened a VAT number, created my workshop to become completely independent – from laser cutting to assembling objects, managing the social and web aspects, to, in 2023, producing plexiglass sheets from manufacturing scraps.

Since 2020, the year we were expecting our little Matilde, Alessandro has been working with me. He takes care of laser cutting and all shipments. He also handcrafts all the little clips with smiley faces made from scraps, which can be found in every package :D

when

Everything started in 2010, following a not-so-happy period in my professional life. I knew nothing about jewelry or plexiglass, but I still immersed myself in this world.

Regarding jewelry, I gained experience in assembly and creation at a small shop in Turin run by my friend Veronica, who helped me start and grow.

As for acrylic, I relied on a large company in Rivoli that handled extensive work. However, they used the scraps to create single-color shapes of small pendants that I designed.

The beginning was undoubtedly challenging, as few stores believed in me, especially because, at that time, plexiglass was not considered a suitable material for making jewelry.

Then, in 2017, I opened my Etsy shop, and that's when the world opened up for me. I still remember, after not even a month, my first sale... in San Francisco! The excitement of receiving that order, mixed with the fear of not knowing exactly how to proceed, is something I will never forget!

what

Arkyfly is an Italian artisanal brand that designs and crafts jewelry and objects in plexiglass.

But it's not just that.

It expresses my non-affiliation with any particular style or group of people.

There were times in the past when I believed I had to conform my style to current trends or to what the 'industry experts' advised, but it was precisely when I stopped listening to others and began looking inward that my brand started to grow.

Certainly, my product doesn't cater to the masses. There are times when products appeal to only 2 or 3 people, but they are exactly what those individuals were looking for and couldn't find elsewhere.

But sometimes, the satisfaction of reaching the hearts of a few people is greater than selling a lot just because it's trendy ;)

where

Everything started in Turin.

Initially, I worked from home, then I purchased some machinery and moved to a garage for a few years.

As the business began to grow, I relocated to a workshop not far from the center of Turin, where I both produce and display my works.

The hours spent working, drawing, gaining necessary experience, and perhaps a bit of luck, led me from selling only in a few shops in Turin to selling all around the world!

My packages have been shipped everywhere: the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, South America, and nearly all of Europe. I also have many retail stores in Europe :)

why

Because it makes me happy.

It allows me to do what I love, to express myself, and to make a living from my art and creations.

But it's not just that.

It makes others happy.

How do I know? Because when people buy my products, they often write to tell me how much joy they bring, how they make them laugh, and how they spark conversations with people who see them worn.

And the thought that a small part of me is traveling around the world... well, that's the part that makes me most euphoric.

I've been doing this job for a long time now, but I'll never get used to this. I'll never stop being thrilled at the idea that someone is choosing exactly what I create.

And if I ever do get used to all of this, then it would be time for me to stop.

But I hope that never happens!
